A616 remains closed following serious collision

The A616 in Ompton, near Ollerton, remains closed in both directions this morning, following a serious collision overnight.

Nottinghamshire Police were called at around 11.10pm last night (Friday 14 September) to a report of a vehicle leaving the road and colliding with a house.

The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year old man, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. He remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning. No other people were injured during the incident.

Police collision investigators remain at the scene this morning. The road is expected to remain closed for some time while police continue their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1039 of 14 September 2018.

Update: Saturday 15 September, 12noon

The road has now reopened.
