Nine people have been arrested for drugs and weapons offences in a crack-down on violent crime in Nottingham.

It comes as the force’s dedicated team works to disrupt criminal activity linked to the use of guns and knives in Nottingham.

Five cars suspected of being connected to crimes in those areas have also been taken off the streets.

The arrests were made this week with the team’s efforts concentrated in the St Ann’s, Radford and Basford areas where communities have felt the impact of these crimes.

Chief Inspector Simon Allardice said: “We are working hard to rid our communities of violent crimes in an effort to keep you safe – our priority.

“This week’s arrests are a positive step but there is more work to do and we ask that anyone who has information about those who are carrying weapons to let us know.”

If you know that someone has a weapon or has been involved in the incidents you’ve heard about, tell us. If you are concerned that a friend or relative is carrying a weapon we are here to support you in having that initial conversation.
