A 37-year-old man has been jailed for 18 weeks for committing two shop burglaries in Newark.

It follows two break-ins at a store in St Mark's Place where the door was smashed and hundreds of pounds worth of goods taken. The first happened at around 7am on 2 September, the second two days later just after 6am.

Nicholas Lowe, of no fixed abode, was arrested last week and subsequently charged. He pleaded guilty at Nottingham Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday 13 September 2018).

Inspector Sue Wain said: "I'm pleased that Lowe has been swiftly dealt with for these two burglaries. It caused the victim a great deal of stress and inconvenience and we hope that they can now put it behind them knowing that the offender is behind bars."
