Waverley Street, which is also a tram route, had been closed between the junctions with Peel Street and Cromwell Street after a cordon was put in place at the scene of the arrest.

The road has now been re-opened.

We had received a report of a knife-point robbery in Talbot Street at 1.50am today, when a man had a mobile phone taken.

Officers investigating the offence arrested two men, one of which was in Waverley Street where a Taser was used to detain him. The man was subsequently taken to the Queen's Medical Centre.

A police officer was also injured during the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 32 of 12 January 2018.

Incident Number:

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
