Murder appeal - public information is critical
Posted on 23rd August 2010
Police investigating the murder of a 24-year-old man in Nottingham are continuing to appeal to the public for information.
Mark Shaw died after being shot at a house in Heatherington Gardens, Top Valley, at around 12.50am, Saturday August 21.
Emergency services were called and found Mr Shaw in the back garden of the property and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem examination concluded he died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Police have interviewed several people and are continuing to carry out CCTV and house to house enquiries.
At this stage, officers do not believe Mr Shaw, of Winterton Rise, Bestwood, was the victim of a random attack.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Morgan said: “The information we’ve received from the public so far has helped us put together a picture of the events, which led up to the tragic death of Mr Shaw.
“However I am sure there are many more people who have important information, which could help identify the offender, or the offender’s whereabouts.
“Anyone with information should call our dedicated Incident Room or Crimestoppers immediately.”
A police cordon set up around the house in Heatherington Gardens remains in place, along with another cordon set up in Winterton Rise. Forensic examinations are continuing.
Hi-visibility officers are continuing to patrol this area and are speaking with residents to provide reassurance.
Anyone with information should call the dedicated Incident Room at Radford Road Police Station on 0115 844 6997. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
