Teenager critical after cycle crash

A teenage cyclist has sustained serious injuries following a road crash.

It happened around 7.50pm on Friday (27 August) at the junction of the A38 Alfreton Road, with Common Road, Sutton in Ashfield.

The 17-year-old girl was riding a pedal cycle when it was in collision with a black Mercedes 500SE.

The girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to Kings Mill hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The 26-year-old man driving the car sustained facial injuries, which required hospital treatment.

He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are keen to speak to anyone with any information or who witnessed the crash.
