A man who intervened to stop a fight on a Newark street is being urged by police to get in touch and provide what could be vital information about the incident.
A 15-year-old boy required stitches in a facial wound after being assaulted near Balderton Gate Post Office on Whitfield Street some time between 8.25am and 9am on Wednesday 27 January.
The man stepped in to stop the fight, possibly preventing more serious injuries to the victim.
He then left the scene and walked in the direction of Sherwood Avenue.
Police have identified a number of possible suspects responsible for the assault, but are keen to get the good Samaritan’s account of the incident.
Anyone who recognises the circumstances of the incident or knows the person who intervened should contact Sgt Matt Scott or Phil Milne at Newark Police station by telephoning 0300 300 99 99 ext 807 7406.
They can also be emailed at matt.scott@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk or phil.milne@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk
