Two police officers sustained minor injuries this morning after their vehicle was struck by a car that failed to stop.

It happened around 2.30am in David Street, Kirkby in Ashfield when police attempted to stop a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a theft offence.

The blue Ford Mondeo collided with the police car before mounting the kerb and driving away. It was found abandoned shortly after in the Morvan Road area.

One of the PCs sustained injuries to his wrist, rib and neck, while the other received a minor knee injury. Neither required hospital treatment.

No one has yet been arrested and police are keen to speak to anyone who knows who was driving the car or who witnessed the incident.
