    A Special Constable with more than 40 years service for Nottinghamshire Police has been honoured with a Chief Constable’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Ambulance paramedic Alan Marwood became a volunteer officer in August 1970. Two years later he won the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for bravery for helping arrest armed robbers who fired shots at him and a colleague.

    Plain-clothed officers who arrested two burglars moments after they had broken into a family home have been commended by Judge Michael Stokes QC for their quick thinking and initiative. PC Jim Russell-Taylor and PC Mark Westlake were patrolling burglary hitspots in the early hours of March 25 this year, when they saw two youths acting suspiciously.

    Detectives have charged a 21-year-old Nottingham man with two robberies, an attempted robbery and possession of a knife after he was arrested in connection with an incident in Woodthorpe Drive, Sherwood, on Sunday night (29 August).
