Updated on 26th January 2012 13:50

Anton WillisA Class A drugs supply to Nottingham has been stemmed following the jailing of a wholesale dealer.

Anton Willis was sentenced to six years in prison yesterday (Wednesday 26 January 2012) following a three-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

The 22-year-old (pictured) denied the four charges against him, but was found guilty on all counts.

He received six years each for possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and possession of criminal property, namely £10,580 in cash.

He was also given six months in jail for possession of cannabis.

The sentences will run concurrently.

Police executed a search warrant at Willis’ home in Osman Close, The Meadows, at about 4pm on 11 March 2011. There they discovered Willis in possession of a small quantity of cannabis.

He was arrested and taken into custody.

On further examination of the house, police discovered a large quantity of drugs and money in an Adidas pouch bag, which had been stashed between a void in the floorboards of the stairs leading to the fourth floor.

In total, 1,360 sale-ready wraps of heroin (965) and crack cocaine (395) with a street value of £13,600, were seized, along with five blocks of wax-covered uncut heroin, with a combined weight of 133.68 grams and worth £8,910.

Scales containing traces of heroin, cannabis and caffiene — a common cutting agent — were also seized.

Hidden alongside the drugs were ten plastic packets of £1,000 in bank notes. A final count came to £10,580 in proceeds of crime.

DC Andy Gerus, of Operation Vanguard, said: “Yesterday’s conclusion came following investigative work prompted by an anonymous tip off from the Crimestoppers ‘Rat on a Rat’ campaign.

“The end result not only takes a Class A drug supplier out of the equation, but also puts countless street dealers out of a job.

“In short, thousands of pounds (£) of heroin and crack cocaine have been taken out of circulation in Nottingham, easing this frustrating and detrimental crime-feeding-crime burden on society.

“But this is one, albeit important, battle won in the ongoing war against drugs.

“I urge members of the Nottinghamshire community with any information about the manufacturing, supply, sale and use of illegal substances to contact the Vanguard team on 101 extension 802 4496 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Operation Vanguard is a large-scale, ongoing, investigation launched in August 2008 to combat drug dealing and associated organised crime in Nottinghamshire.
