RSS

What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It enables you to receive new content published on websites that you are interested in - without having to revisit the sites every day.

Nottinghamshire Police operates an RSS service to keep you up to date with the latest information on our site, including news, appeals and job vacancies.

How do I receive RSS updates?

The first thing you need is a news reader or news aggregator. This is a piece of software that checks RSS feeds and lets you read any new content that has been added to them. Once you have chosen a news reader, you can decide what content you want to receive by finding and subscribing to the relevant RSS feeds.

How do I get a news reader?

There are many different types of reader. Different readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer. Click here for a list of news readers that are available.

I've got a news reader, what now?

On the right, there is a list of sections that are available as RSS feeds. You can subscribe to these feeds by dragging the link into your news reader, or dragging or cutting and pasting the URL of the feed into your news reader. If this doesn't work, refer to the help file in your news reader for more information.
