Nottinghamshire Police Associates

Share by emailShare by email

Nottinghamshire Police have launched an Associates programme which will allow a route for retired officers and staff back into the force.

A variety of roles are available and we are keen to hear from people with a particular skill-set or work history who can support operational policing delivery in respect of specific tasks that require temporary additional resources.

Associate personnel provide a valuable resource to Nottinghamshire Police, bringing current, relevant and specialist skills that complement our staff.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford is supportive of the Associates programme. He said: “The new associates register will benefit the organisation by offering support to our operational policing delivery.

“The scheme enables us to better meet temporary increases in demand and retain specialist skills and experience.”

Nottinghamshire Police Associate roles include:

  • Crime Investigators including vulnerability offences
  • Fraud Investigators
  • Financial Investigators
  • Surveillance Operatives
  • Covert Monitoring Post Managers
  • Trainers
  • Crime Screeners
  • Collision Investigators
  • Safeguarding and Prevention Coordinators
  • Emergency / Non-Emergency Call Handlers – Please note these roles require you to have incident resolution experience and have held a similar position within a policing capacity in the past 12 months
  • Contact Resolution and Incident Management (CRIM)

Please note that whilst serving police officers, police staff and civil servants cannot be engaged as Nottinghamshire Police Associates, we do encourage expressions of interest from those who are planning to retire in the next 6 to 12 months.

Important information:

  • Nottinghamshire Police Associates are engaged on an ad hoc basis for specific, short-term, discreet pieces of work.
  • Payment is dependent on the nature of the work undertaken.
  • A robust recruitment and selection process is applied where successful Associates are retained on an approved list.
  • Acceptance onto the approved list of Nottinghamshire Police Associates does not guarantee the offer of work.

  • Associates wishing to undertake a Trainer role must hold a level 4 teacher/trainer qualification, such as a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS Level 4), Diploma in Learning and Development, Certificate in Education, NVQ 4 Learning and Development or equivalent.
