Inspector Mike Ebbins

I joined Nottinghamshire Police in 2003 after graduating from University in Manchester. Policing the Nottinghamshire community was already a family business and a natural route for me to take.

My ambition was always to be a detective and so after spending my probation in the Meadows and Clifton response areas I moved quickly into the investigations arena working in the intel department and then special branch before arriving as a detective in the city CID.

As a City Detective I learned a great deal about the need for strong relationships with the community and need for their support and information to progress cases to court.

I was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2012 where I remained in CID for a number of years before moving into Serious and Organised Crime and Modern Slavery. As DS for Modern Slavery I was immensely proud to build up a strong team of officers and partners and make real, tangible differences to people’s lives. In this new crime remit we created new processes and practices that steered national change. My team and I were recognised for our work with a nomination at a national modern slavery award at Westminster.

In 2021 I was promoted to Inspector where I worked as Detective Inspector for Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe. Every day I would see the hard work and sacrifices our detectives make to lock up bad guys and safeguard victims.  The opportunity arose to take the neighbourhood Inspector role at Broxtowe and I jumped at the chance. Having spent the majority of my career dealing with individual investigations I wanted the challenge of focusing on helping the wider community and affecting change for my area.

Those who know me know I have great enthusiasm and relish challenge. I have a background of proactive polling and will always reiterate the same messages to my community; this being have the confidence to tell us what’s going on and we will take action.
