Inspector Simon Riley

I took over as your Neighbourhood Policing Inspector on April 1st 2018, succeeding Inspector Steve Wragg.  I am very proud to have been appointed to the role and feel privileged to be entrusted with policing in Broxtowe.

I joined Nottinghamshire Police in September 1991 and have worked in a variety of roles across the force.  I started out at Oxclose Lane on the old Arnold Sub-Division, working initially as a response officer and then on a number of proactive teams before I spent 2 years as the full time Public Order and Officer Safety Instructor at the Force Training School at Epperstone.

I was promoted to Sergeant in July 2000, working initially at St Anns/Sneinton both as Response and Beat Manager Sgt, then spells at Custody and Radford Road Response.  I transferred to our Operational Support Department as an armed response officer in October 2003, where I spent the next 13 years as an Operational Firearms Commander as well as a 6 month spell as temporary Inspector on the Tactical Support Group and Dog Section.  My last 2 years or so on Operational Support (by then part of the East Midlands Operational Support Service) were spent as one of the project managers on the regional OPTIK mobile data and agile working projects.

I was promoted to Inspector on February 1st 2017.  Since then, I have worked as a Demand Management Inspector  - initially on Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood Response and from September 2017 on the 'Central' Response band, based at Oxclose Lane, covering everywhere from Kirkby-in-Ashfield to the Queens Medical Centre, until taking up this role on April 1st 2018.

I view community engagement and partnership working as essential in keeping our communities safe and increasing the trust and confidence you have in your local policing teams.  Your support is very much appreciated by us all on the team and I would encourage you to be confident and feel supported yourselves, in discussing your issues and sharing information with us which will help us to keep you safe.
