January blog

We have been kept very busy since Christmas and the usual calm after the festive period has not been forthcoming.

The centre of Hucknall has been blighted with a number of anti-social behavior issues, from a group of young people who feel it’s appropriate to commit these type of offences to the detriment of shop workers and other members of the public. We have a plan in place to combat this and we now know those responsible and together with our partners, particularly Ashfield District Council, we will take whatever action is necessary and this can include the parents of those responsible being prosecuted and if they are in homes rented from the Council, their tenancy can be put in jeopardy.

Selston Parish

I'm pleased to say that I'm attending a meeting at the Parish Hall on the 24th January, in which the possibility of introducing a Community Alcohol Partnership is discussed. I've talked about these excellent initiatives in previous blogs and I can't recommend them highly enough. We're often told that some of the ASB issues the area suffers is directly related to underage drinking and the purchase of the alcohol from shops. This partnership will tackle that issue, as it has done in other areas of Ashfield and it has mine and my team’s full support. Look out for information in your area.

More Good News.

As reported previously, we were promised our number of police officers within the team will increase and it is! We are getting three new officers who are currently in training and due to arrive as operational officers in May. This is very welcome news indeed and hopeful the first of many more.

Goodbye and Good Luck to PCSO Chris SmithChris has been a member of this team for many years and has served the communities in his area to a very high standard.
