My name is Inspector Riz Khan and I am the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Arboretum, Berridge, Dunkirk & Lenton, Radford & Park and Wollaton East and the Lenton Abbey areas.

Passing the baton

I have recently taken on the role from Insp Rob Wilson, who retired from policing having served 30 years in Nottinghamshire Police.

I was fortunate to work with Rob since April 2018 up until he retired on 12 October 2018. I wish to thank Rob for his tremendous work and enthusiasm and the invaluable experience I attained from him. I wish him and his family all the very best for the future.

Local update

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our local communities for all the hard work you have done with working with the Police and local partners to make the area a safe place to live, work, and visit.

We are working tirelessly to reduce crime and disorder in the local area through several initiatives, ranging from high-visibility patrols providing reassurance, community engagement and providing crime reduction tactics and advice.

Our efforts to reduce local crime and antisocial behaviour priorities set by community groups, such as residential burglary, violence and car crime remains our main focus. We encourage crime prevention advice, such as keeping doors and windows locked when you leave the property and keeping a light on, especially as we enter the darker night period. Please also try not to keep valuable items on display in the car, for example to avoid car crime happening.

Significant arrests

There have been several arrests recently in connection with various crimes, thanks to witnesses and partners and the police working collectively together to reduce offending.

In recent weeks, whilst there has been several incidents reported in the local media, I would like to reassure the community that such incidents bear no resemblance to the hard work and cohesion and resilience in the community. They are isolated incidents forming no pattern nor are they connected in any way to cause alarm or fear.

Detectives are working around the clock to investigate such crimes to allow justice to prevail. We are always looking at opportunities to be proactive and follow leads in enquiries as well as conducting operations to reduce crime and the fear of crime.

New additions to our team

We are fortunate to have several new staff members join our neighbourhood policing team, which will allow for greater visibility and interaction in the wider community. My team has attended a number of local events to celebrate and provide advice and support to local projects, something we relish to promote positive action, understanding and cohesion in the communities we serve.

I thank you for your continued support towards your local policing team.
