Over the last couple of weeks City North Shows an all crime increase of 28 incidents.

Main features are:-

An increase in:-

2 Personal robberies –one occurred in Bulwell in the early hours and appears to be a targeted attack. The 2nd occurred in Carrington where a vulnerable person has been targeted in the early hours of the morning. One person has been arrested in relation to the Bulwell incident and is still being processed as I type, enquiries remain on-going for both.

Criminal damage - +16 which is a sharp increase, there appears to be a group of children going around the Bestwood area causing damage to vehicles and properties in the early evening. If you see or hear anty information on who this might be then contact the beat team, if it is currently happening then call 999.

Theft other – there is an increase in theft of recordable door bells, these seem easy to remove and offenders are changing their location on a daily basis making this a city north issue. Some purses and phones have been stolen from the Bulwell shopping area unbeknown to the owner, shoppers should keep their bags and purse securely with them at all times to make it more difficult for both professional and opportunists thieves.

Final increase - Possession of drugs linked to OP Scorpion which is our knife crime initiative to help reduce knife carrying within our communities.

Decreases in:-

Burglary dwelling which had increased last time however, the warm weather does encourage windows and doors to be left open making it easier for offenders.

Theft of motor vehicle, we have had 2 arrests recently linked to motorbike theft.

Shoplifting remains down after a lot of hard work by the beat team.

Last priorities:-

• Increase in patrols on Rufford walk and surrounding areas due to burglary and robbery of commercial premises.

Update

Regular patrols conducted including using the CCTV van when possible. Unfortunately a further incident has occurred so patrols will be stepped up.

• Proactive work around knife crime in City North

Various open spaces have been searched along with hotspot locations and other places of risk, this has resulted in:-

30 weapons being seized2 vehicles being seized3 stop searches1 drug seizure

So all in all I am pleased with the result as the ultimate goal is to remove knives off the street.

Next priorities:-

• Increase in patrols on Rufford walk and surrounding areas due to burglary and robbery of commercial premises.

Update

Regular patrols conducted including using the CCTV van when possible. Unfortunately a further incident has occurred so patrols will be stepped up.

• Begging issues - predominantly Carrington area.

• Criminal damage – Bestwood area.
