Inspector Paul Ferguson's blog: October 2021

Hello and welcome to my October blog.

During September, the team have been working
hard to tackle issues on the area.

Both Universities have welcomed students back
to the City. The team have been proactive in carrying out crime prevention
events and engagements to reduce the risk of burglary offences occurring in the
Neighbourhoods. Patrols have taken place to target insecure properties and
engage with the occupants to suitably advise so that opportunist offences are
less likely to occur. We work in partnership with both the University of
Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University to carry out this work and get the
message spread far and wide.

Unfortunately September saw an issue with a
number of knife point robberies being reported. The team have worked tirelessly
with CID colleagues to investigate and tackle these offences. Although the
offenders have not yet been identified, there have been some very useful pieces
of evidence uncovered and further work is ongoing. Patrols were stepped up in
the area which has put a stop to the reports.

Issues around ASB in the Hyson Green area have
also been challenged. A repeat offender has been arrested for begging offences
and the team are currently pursuing a Criminal Behaviour Order application through
the courts to try and manage the issue.
