Detectives investigating a report of attempted arson have arrested two men in connection with the incident.

Police were called at around 1am on Thursday 10 September after a potentially flammable liquid was poured through the letterbox of a flat in Selside Court in Chilwell.

There was no fire and no one was injured in the incident.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene to establish the circumstances and an investigation was launched.

Police were then called later that day when two men believed to be linked to the initial incident were reported to have been acting suspiciously in the area.

Nottinghamshire Police attended and swiftly arrested two men, age 28 and 19, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police is committed to investigating reports of suspicious incidents thoroughly.

“We are pleased to have made two arrests in connection with our investigation but we are still working to establish what happened.

“The men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.”

Anyone with any information that could aid detectives in their investigation is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 38 of 10 September 2020.
