Two people were arrested during an operation targeting drug use and dealing in the city centre.

Officers stopped and searched a total of 33 people during the latest Operation Guardian on Saturday night (1 December).

Arrangements were made for eight people to attend voluntary interviews and four people were cautioned.

Drugs seized on the night included cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine and cannabis. None of those stopped and searched were carrying weapons.

City Centre Neighbourhood Inspector Anwaar Ahmed said: "This operation is part of our approach to tackling violence associated with the combination of drugs and alcohol in the night time economy and we have further operations planned in the near future."
