A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty in court to six counts of fraud by false representation, one count of burglary and one count of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent following a number of reported incidents in the Newark area.

The boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Nottingham Youth Court today (Tuesday 9 October 2018).

The court heard that the boy had taken money from an elderly man after he’d been asked to withdraw cash from his bank account and also committed a burglary at a property off Grange Road on 3 October 2018.

The boy was granted conditional bail, including a condition not to enter Newark, and will re-appear for sentencing on 31 October 2018.

He's the latest offender to be brought before the courts since the introduction of Force's new dedicated burglary teams, introduced in April, which are focused on tackling and reducing burglary in the city and county.
