Five men appear in court in relation to alleged sex offences

Five men from the Forest Fields area of Nottingham have appeared in court in connection with an investigation led by Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham City Council into suspected sexual exploitation of three teenage girls.

In total the men face 36 charges, including rape, grooming and sexual activity.

The alleged offences, which are claimed to have taken place in Nottingham city centre between February 2017 and January 2019, relate to three girls who were aged 13 to 15 at the time.

Mohammed Saeed Ahmed, aged 20, of Vale Crescent South, Nottingham, is charged with 11 offences, including the rape of a girl under the age of 16.

Hamza Shazad, aged 25, of Ewart Road, Nottingham, is charged with 11 offences, including making indecent images of a child.

Waqas Akhtar, aged 24, of no fixed address, is charged with six offences, including engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Waqar Akhtar, aged 26, of Glentworth Road, Nottingham, is charged with two offences, including taking a child without lawful authority.

Ansar Ahmed, aged 29, of Radford Road, Nottingham, is charged with six offences, including meeting a girl under the age of 16 following alleged grooming.

All five appeared before Nottingham Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday 7 November 2019) and have been bailed to appear before Nottingham Crown Court on December 5.
