Keeping you safe - armed officers to patrol throughout December

If you’re venturing out and about across the county over the coming weeks, you may notice increased numbers of officers, as well as armed officers on patrol. This is simply due to the higher volume of people out and about in Nottinghamshire over the festive period.

These officers will include uniformed police officers, Community Protection officers and our specially trained covert teams. They are all keeping a keen eye out for anyone trying to cause trouble. We also have a number of security measures in place, some of which you will see and some which have been carefully designed to blend into the surrounding area.

Armed officers are always working in Nottinghamshire, ready to deploy where they’re needed. Although they may look intimidating, they’re extremely friendly and they’re more than happy to answer any questions or pose for a selfie.

None of these measures are in relation to any specific threat to Nottinghamshire. However, we're realistic about the current climate of the world and we know people will be concerned when heading into busy towns and cities to do their Christmas shopping. That's why we'll always be working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (and 366 in a leap year!) to keep you safe, which gives you much more time to worry about whether your roast potatoes will crisp up on the big day, what to buy your Secret Santa and whether you've bought enough mince pies to see you through to New Year (hint: you can never have too many!)

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
