Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s Dog Section acted quickly to arrest two people in connection with a report of a car theft last night.

Police were called to Rowan Drive in Kirkby-in-Ashfield at around 10pm when a car was reported to have been stolen from outside a house in the street.

When police arrived at the scene, the stolen car was spotted by eagle-eyed officers, who then moved to safely stop the car.

The car was abandoned and Police Dog Wolf (pictured) was deployed to help search for suspects.

Moments later, a man and a woman, aged 39 and 29, were arrested in connection with the report of burglary.

Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Mark Dickson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These arrests are a fantastic example of how our dog handlers and police dogs work together to achieve positive results.

“We were able to recover the stolen car and return it to the owner as part of our enquiries and will now work to establish the circumstances around this incident.

“Nottinghamshire Police takes all reports of burglary very seriously and will investigate all reports thoroughly.”

If you are a victim of burglary call Nottinghamshire Police on 101. In an emergency, always dial 999.
