A man was arrested after a woman was approached from behind and assaulted.

The woman was walking through the Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham, shortly before midnight yesterday (Monday) and pushed to the ground.

After a brief struggle she fled the scene and raised the alarm. A 24-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody.

The victim was not harmed in the attack.

Detective Inspector Pam Dowson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and investigations have continued this morning at the scene. Although incidents like this are incredibly rare we realise they can cause alarm. I am pleased, therefore, that we were able to bring a suspect into custody so quickly.”
