A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery and an attempted robbery at two stores in Ruddington.

A man entered the Sainsbury's on Wilford Road at about 5.40pm yesterday (Saturday 5 October 2019). He demanded a cashier to open the till. He ran off empty handed after the cashier sounded an alarm.

About 10 minutes later a man entered the Co-op on Church Street. He went over to the till and asked for some items. As the till was opened he grabbed some cash, leaving the store with a bag of coins.

Staff chased after the man and detained him until police arrived soon after.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody.
