A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a series of drug and driving offences.

Callum Nugent of Burton Road, Carlton, was arrested yesterday and has now been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply drugs, assaulting a police officer, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and receiving stolen goods.

It follows an incident on 25 of March 2020 where a man tried to escape from police by ramming police cars with the vehicle he was driving before assaulting them as they detained him. He was then found to be in possession of a large quantity of drugs.

Nugent has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' court on Monday (29 June).

Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow said: "My team in this case have worked really hard carrying out enquiries which have led to this charge. Violent and dangerous behaviour won't be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and we will do everything we can to take dangerous individuals off the streets."
