A man is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today charged in connection with a firearms offence.

Ashley Shaw, 33, of no fixed address, is charged with possession of an imitation firearm after officers recovered a fake pistol during a police search conducted on Monday 14 September.

Shaw is also charged with threatening behaviour in relation to an incident where staff were threatened at a pub in Angel Row on Sunday 13 September.

Shaw was remanded in custody pending his court appearance today.

Inspector Anwaar Ahmed, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Firearms offences are incredibly serious and we will always look to take action against those who commit such offences.

“If you spot something suspicious in your area it is incredibly important to report it to Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or in an emergency, dial 999.”
