A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court today charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

Officers were called to a report of an assault in Elston Close, Mansfield, at 8.37am yesterday (Friday 31 July). A woman was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Daniel Bonser, of Elston Close, Mansfield, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today (Saturday 1 August) charged with two offences of causing grievous bodily harm - one in connection with the incident yesterday and one relating to an assault on the same woman in 2018. He was remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court at a later date.

Detective Sergeant Katie Hurrell, who is leading the investigation, said: “Nottinghamshire Police treats domestic violence seriously and will act swiftly and robustly to reports.”
