Member of public thanked for chasing man after theft in Beeston

A 41-year-old man who was chased down by a member of the public after a theft in Beeston has been charged.

Officers were called at around 2.30pm on Thursday (21 May 2020) to Armstrong Way following a report of a theft to an elderly man where money was stolen.

The offender was detained after a member of public gave chase and helped officers with the arrest.

Detective Inspector Gayle Hart said: "We'd like to commend the member of the public who assisted officers with the arrest.

"His actions helped recover the items. The victim was unharmed.

"A woman who was arrested in connection with the incident has been refused charge.”

Karl Dyer of no fixed address has been charged with theft and is due to appear Mansfield Magistrates' Court on 22 May 2020.
