Men arrested after burglary in Newark

Detectives investigating a report of aggravated burglary in Newark have arrested three men in connection with the incident.

Officers were called to North Gate, Newark at around 1pm on Sunday 22 March 2020 after reports of men smashing a window in order to enter a flat.

The men are thought to have been forced to leave by a person inside the property before fleeing the scene.

When officers attended, they conducted a search in the area and arrested three 19-year-old men in connection with the incident.

They were all arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. One of the men has been released with no further action.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This would have been a terrifying experience for the occupant of the flat and our officers did an excellent job to make quick arrests as part of our investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, have dashcam footage or information to get in touch with us as soon as possible. If you have something that could help us as part of our investigation, please call 101 and quote incident 299 of 22 March 2020.”
