A motorcyclist has died after a serious road traffic collision.

The rider, a 41-year-old man, was travelling along the A634 near Oldcotes when his bike left the road at around 10.45am on Sunday (4 April 2021).

He sustained serious injuries and – despite the best efforts of air ambulance medics – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remained closed between Oldcotes and Blyth for much of the day as investigation work was carried out at the scene.

Collision Investigator Louise Melbourne, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is a tragic incident and – as with all road traffic collisions where people are killed or seriously injured – we are working hard to understand exactly what happened.

"If you witnessed this incident or saw a motorcycle travelling along the road immediately before the collision please contact 101 quoting incident 194 of 4 April. Also please make contact if you have dash cam or head cam footage. ”
