A man who went missing from Nottinghamshire last year has reached out to the officers who helped him.

The victim was suffering with mental health issues and was found by a member of the public walking the streets and very disorientated following a media appeal.

He recently rang the force expressing his direct thanks to PC James Mcquaid and PC Simon Williams who helped him the night he was found and took him to get the help he needed. He wanted us to know that thanks to the officers’ actions that night, he is now back to his best, he has changed his medication and is even back at work. He said it was the calm manner of the officers' which reassured him, the advice they gave and the way they explained things. They made time to make contact the mental health team and then explained exactly what would be happenning to him.

It's always nice to hear that people have benefitted from our help and we wish the victim all the best as he continues on his journey.

One in four people will experience mental health in any given year. Please don't suffer in silence. You can get support from a number of agencies and charities including mind.org.uk: https://www.mind.org.uk/

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
