Police used metal detectors as they searched for hidden weapons at Forest Recreation Ground today.

While no weapons were recovered in the sweep a quantity of what is suspected to be class A drugs were recovered.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Street Offences Team also carried out a Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant in the Radford area and recovered a quantity of cannabis, drug-related paraphernalia, an imitation firearm and a lock knife. One suspect has been interviewed and remains under investigation.

The operation was carried out as Nottinghamshire Police supports the national Operation Sceptre knife amnesty and week of action this week.

Knife amnesty bins are available at a number of police stations and partner agency locations across Nottinghamshire until midnight on Sunday. Officers will also be carrying out action including proactive operations and weapons sweeps in open spaces during the week.
