Police hunting a suspect wanted in connection with a knife
attack have made an arrest.

Officers from the new Mansfield Operation Reacher team
attended an address in Cobden Place, Mansfield, early this morning (Thursday)
and arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He remains in police
custody.

The arrest relates to an incident at an address with in Mansfield at around midnight on Tuesday during which a woman sustained
an injury to her hand.

Sergeant Jay Lee, leading the new Operation Reacher team,
said: “One of the main ideas of this new initiative is that we are able to
divert resources quickly to where they are needed.

“On this occasion colleagues investigating an assault were
very keen to speak to a suspect and tasked us with finding him. I am delighted
to say that, thanks to some strong force intelligence, we were able to do that
within a matter of hours.

“In investigations like this it is often crucial to get
suspects into custody as soon as possible and I am delighted that my team have
been able to help on this occasion.”
