Police recover body from River Trent

Nottinghamshire Police's Dive Team recovered a body from the River Trent this morning following a call from a member of the public who spotted something in the water.

Emergency services was called at around 11am on Monday (22 February 2021) following the report of a concern of safety to a person in the water near Radcliffe-on-Trent. 

The force's Dive Team and firefighters from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were quickly on the scene and able to recover a man's body. 

The investigation is ongoing and a cordon has been in place. 

The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained and he hasn't been formally identified. 

Inspector Ben Lawrence  of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts are with this man's family and friends at this sad time. We are working hard to understand the full circumstances and officers will remain in the area for some time while they carry out their enquiries. 

“We are keeping an open mind as we continue to progress with our investigation and I would urge anyone with information about the incident to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 199 of 22 February 2021.”
