Members of Nottinghamshire Police's proactive Knife Crime Team arrested a man on suspicion of drug offences during patrols in The Meadows this afternoon.

Officers spotted a man loitering in an alleyway in the Osman Close area who was suspected to have been dealing drugs. He was stopped and searched but no drugs were found on him.

But when officers checked back gardens near to where the man had been seen, they found a bundle of about 17 wraps of suspected Class A heroin and crack cocaine.

The suspect was arrested and officers immediately attended his address having quickly obtained authority to search. While searching a bedroom they found four more bundles suspected of containing over 100 wraps of Class A heroin and crack cocaine. A quantity of cash and a small lock knife were also recovered.

An 18-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, remains in custody.

Sergeant Matthew Daley, of the Knife Crime Team, said: "To have recovered drugs and a weapon as part of our searches is really positive and we will always look to take action against those suspected of committing drugs offences.

"Nottinghamshire Police is committed to tackling drug and weapon-enabled crime and our proactive patrols play an important role in this.

“We work closely with our communities and rely on information submitted to us so that we can take positive action. If you see something suspicious in your area, please do not hesitate to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or in an emergency dial 999.”
