A man will be sentenced at Crown Court later this month after being caught carrying a large hunting knife yesterday.

Andree Francis, 29, of no fixed address, was stopped and searched by Nottinghamshire Police's Knife Crime Team at around 1.35pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 February 2019) in Abbotsford Drive, St Ann's, and was found with the serrated blade in a bag. Officers also seized some cannabis.

He admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cannabis at Nottingham Magistrates' Court this morning, and was remanded in custody for sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on 28 February.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas said: "There is no excuse for carrying a knife like this in public.

"Our Knife Crime Team act on intelligence and do an excellent job taking knives like this off the streets and helping to put people before the courts for weapon-related crime."
