A man and a boy have been arrested in connection with a handbag robbery.

It came after we were called to reports of a disturbance in Devon Drive, Carrington, at around 8.05pm yesterday (Thursday 19 October).

A group of around eight youths wearing bandanas over their faces and hoods were reported to be causing anti-social behaviour affecting shop owners and throwing fireworks in the street.

A 46-year-old woman then had a handbag pulled from her arm, causing her to fall to the ground.

We were quickly on the scene and the group immediately dispersed but our officers arrested a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery. They remain in police custody. A handbag was also recovered.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 816 of 19 October 2017.

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
