Police investigating the stabbing of a man in Lenton have increased visible patrols in the area and are re-appealing for witnesses to the incident.

We were called to Albert Grove just after 6am on Wednesday (1 November 2017).

The 19-year-old victim, who was stabbed in his chest, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre where he remains in a critical condition.

Chief Inspector Mark Stanley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We have stepped up patrols in the area to provide reassurance and we are doing everything we can to keep people safe.

"Incidents like this where the victim has sustained such serious injuries are incredibly rare. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family and friends at this difficult time.

"We’re re-appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information that could help our investigation. It may be that someone saw something just before, during or after this incident which could help us with our enquiries. It may be that someone captured dash cam footage of the incident as they set off for work.

"If anyone has any information I’d urge them to please call us immediately on 101, quoting incident number 112 of 1 November 2017. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
