Detectives are calling on the public’s help to bring an offender to justice after a woman was left with a fractured skull following a robbery in West Bridgford.
The incident happened on Monday 19 August at around midnight in Pavilion Road.
The 22-year-old victim was walking home after some drinks in the city centre when a man on a bike rode up beside her and violently pulled at her handbag.
As a result of the force used, the victim fell to the ground and lost consciousness. The man fled the scene with the bag containing a number of personal items including bank cards.
She was sent to Queen’s Medical Centre where they found a fractured skull. She is now recovering from her injuries.
Officers are carrying out a number of lines of inquiry, including an extensive CCTV trawl, to locate the offender responsible.
They are appealing for any witnesses who may have witnessed the attack or saw a suspicious male on a bike at the time of the incident.
They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam or doorbell camera footage.
Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are treating this incident as a robbery and are determined to catch the person responsible.
“The injuries the victim sustained were serious, not to mention the emotional impact this crime will have caused.
“While our investigation is gaining momentum, we would really like to hear from the public especially anyone with information about this crime and can help lead us to the person responsible.
“We would also appeal to anyone who has any dashcam footage in and around Trent Bridge and Pavilion Road before, during or after the incident to please get in touch.
“We want to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to ensure that this offender is caught. The public can expect to see increased patrols in the area over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
Anyone with information can call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 555 of 21 August 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
