A shop thief is back behind bars after officers found him buried under loft insulation during a search of a property.
The offender had missed his probation appointments which was part of his conditions having been released from prison early.
The 32-year-old is now back behind bars after officers found him “buried deep” within loft insulation trying to evade arrest.
He had been sentenced to just over a month in prison for theft from a shop in West Bridgford in June and had been released early on licence.
Having missed probation appointments, officers attended a property in Raymede Drive in Bestwood on Tuesday 22 August.
Intelligence suggested he was staying at the property.
On entry, officers were told the offender was not at the address however some of his clothes were found.
He was found in the loft buried in loft insulation.
Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Ferguson said: “This offender thought he could outsmart police by hiding himself deep within loft insulation.
“However, he did not fool us, and it didn’t take us long to bring him down, put him in cuffs and send him back to prison.
“Any offender who does not turn up to their probation appointments and abide by the conditions of their licence will be found, as this result shows.”
