The 80-year-old was involved in the collision with the police vehicle on the A52 Derby Road inbound carriageway shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday (19 December 2023).
The vehicle, which was transporting a suspect into custody at the time, collided with the male pedestrian. He was treated by paramedics, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions while inquiries into the incident took place and has since reopened.
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin said:
“Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with the man’s family following this awful incident.
“As is standard procedure the incident has been referred to the IOPC and I hope people will understand that I am therefore unable to share any further information at this time.
“I would urge any drivers with dash cam footage, or anyone who witnessed the collision, to please come forward.”
If you saw what happened or have any dashcam footage that could assist the investigation please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 547 of 19 December 2023.
