Police on the spot to tackle suspected drug offender

Frontline police officers immediately put a suspected drug offender in handcuffs after forcing entry to a house as the latest episode of Police Interceptors hits television screens.

The latest action-packed instalment sees response officers teaming up with members of Nottinghamshire Police’s knife crime team to detain a suspect before any evidence could be destroyed.

A quantity of suspected Class A drugs and scales are seized at the address and a man is taken into custody.

Also in this week’s episode, more police teamwork involving a range of units and officers results in two arrests after reports of a car being driven the wrong way on a dual carriageway.

Police units work together to try to bring the incident to a safe conclusion after reports of the Ford Focus being driven at speeds of over 100mph.

It’s not long before officers catch up with two suspects and apprehend both following a foot chase.

Meanwhile, officers have a very close shave while dealing with a driver on the hard shoulder of an exit slip road to the M1.

Despite warning lights being activated, giving advanced warning to approaching vehicles, a careless lorry driver narrowly misses the offside of their police car but collides with a member of the public’s car, sending debris into the air.

The lorry is soon stopped, and the driver reported for driving without due care and attention.

Tonight’s jam-packed episode comes as Nottinghamshire Police shines a spotlight this week on the hard work, dedication, and bravery of officers who respond to calls from the public, day in and day out, to keep people safe and fight crime during the third national Response Policing ‘Week of Action’ (26 June - 2 July).

Superintendent Kathryn Craner said: “Our frontline response officers are the very heart of policing. They play a direct role in protecting and serving our communities, and these officers routinely face and deal with some of the most challenging and difficult situations in society.

“For most victims of crime in Nottinghamshire, our response officers will be the first face they see and the first help that comes to them.

“Throughout this week we will be taking the opportunity to showcase their vital work in serving the public as well as their immense value to our organisation.”

Catch all the action in tonight’s Police Interceptors on Channel 5 at 8pm.
