Man dies following incident on A1

A man has died at the scene following an incident on the A1 near Newark-on-Trent.

Officers were called to the incident shortly before 9.30pm last night (24 October).

The road was closed in both directions until around 8am this morning (25 October) while investigations were carried out.

The A46 flyover was also closed and has since been reopened.

DC Liah Lane, from Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“I would also like to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation while the road was closed.

“Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”
