Police foiled a suspected cannabis operation where they also seized weapons including knuckle dusters, two imitation firearms and a knife disguised as a credit card.
Officers were on a routine patrol at around 11.17am on Sunday 1 October when they noticed a VW Golf linked to potential drug dealing.
The vehicle has attempted to evade police in Derby Road in Lenton but was held up by traffic.
Officers carried out a search of the vehicle where plastic bags of branded cannabis, cash and sim cards were recovered.
A 22-year-old man was arrested for being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (cannabis). He also failed a roadside drugs test, testing positive for cannabis, and was arrested for drug driving.
A further search of the vehicle at Broxtowe Police Station recovered a canister of nitrous oxide and two tubs of unknown brown powder, which is currently being tested.
Officers from Operation Reacher visited the 22-year-old’s home address in Teesbrook Drive in Wollaton to carry out a thorough search of the property.
Knuckledusters in a locked safe, two imitation firearms, a box of cannabis, and some canisters believed to have contained cannabis were found.
More work is now being carried out to determine the extent of the operation.
A 36-year-old man at the address was arrested and charged with possession of a bladed article namely a credit card locking knife found in his wallet.
Neighbourhood Inspector Gordon Fenwick, who covers the Wollaton area, said:
“It is quite clear from this job that we will use every power at our disposal to disrupt those suspected of dealing drugs.
“Not only will we search your car, seize your belongings but also attempt to take away your driving licence by testing you at the roadside.
“In this case, the driver tested positive and was arrested for drug driving. We will then search your entire house. It is quite simple – don’t deal drugs and we won’t disrupt your day.”
