Suspect charged after drugs flushed down toilet

A man has appeared in court after police found cocaine flushed down a toilet during a raid.

Officers also recovered quantities of cannabis, multiple mobile phones and weighing scales from inside the home in Hatley Close, The Meadows, when they executed a warrant.

A suspect was arrested as a result of the proactive operation by officers from the City South Operation Reacher team on Friday (8 September).

Thirty-eight-year-old Ricki Ward, of Hatley Close, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday (11 September) charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 9 October.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Drug offences are treated with the utmost severity, and we continue to carry out proactive operations like this to remove them from the streets before they can be used to cause harm.

“Dealing drugs in Nottinghamshire will not be tolerated and we will take positive action against anyone involved in this sort of criminality.”
