Police arrest youths after boy robbed of bike

Officers swiftly arrested three suspects after report a 14-year-old boy was robbed of his bike.

It was reported that the victim was approached and threatened by three youths who took his bike during the incident which happened in Swingate, Kimberley, at around 7.45pm on Sunday (14 April 2024).

Officers attended and carried out searches of the area to trace the suspects.

Following inquiries, police arrested three boys, aged 15, 15, and 14, on suspicion of robbery after attending an address in Cossall shortly after 9pm.

The victim wasn’t hurt during the incident.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, police are appealing for the public’s help to find the stolen bike.

The bike, as pictured, is a light blue coloured C100 collective model which has yellow detailing on it.

Investigator Nikki Wiley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim was left feeling very shaken following this incident. I’m pleased that following quick action from officers who arrived on scene we managed to arrest three suspects.

“The force takes reports of robbery very seriously and our inquiries are ongoing to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“I’d urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have recently seen the bike pictured to please contact us.”

The arrests come as neighbourhood officers step up high-visibility patrols in the Kimberley area to crack down on criminality, including antisocial behaviour.

Under the banner of Operation Platter, neighbourhood and response officers are focused on targeting, disrupting and dispersing offenders causing issues, as well as engaging with members of the public and local businesses and providing reassurance.

High-visibility patrols are also being carried out in hotspot areas during key times.
