Man appears in court after street robberies

Detectives investigating street robberies in Nottingham city centre have placed a suspect before magistrates.

The first incident took place in Middle Hill around 7.50am on Monday (5 August) when a woman reported being approached by a man who threatened her and demanded she hand over her mobile phone.

The victim was able to walk away and was not harmed.

Officers were then alerted to a second incident which took place 35 minutes later at the junction of Middle Hill and High Pavement.

Two teenage boys were approached by a man riding a bicycle who made threats before taking a bag and cash from them.

Police on patrol were made aware and arrested a suspect a short time later.

Daniel Drazeska, aged 22, of Graylands Road, Nottingham, has been charged with two counts of robbery and one of attempted robbery.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (7 August) and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 4 September 2024.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Anyone unfortunate enough to become a victim of a street robbery can be emotionally affected by the incident even if they are not physically harmed.

“I hope the three victims here are comforted by our response which has seen a suspect arrested, charged and placed before the courts at the earliest opportunity.”
