Detectives investigating a home burglary and series of motor vehicle thefts have arrested a suspect.
An investigation was launched following a reported car key burglary in Woodside Road, Beeston, Nottingham.
The vehicle was stolen from the victim’s driveway after offenders had broken into their address and taken the car keys.
The burglary is believed to have occurred at 2.30pm on 13 February 2024.
The car was later recovered but found to have been fitted with false registration plates.
Investigations revealed the plates had been reported stolen from a car parked on a driveway in Wollaton Vale.
On 15 April 2024, another victim contacted police to report his motorcycle had been stolen after he had put it up for sale online.
He met a man who showed an interest in buying the bike in Nottingham who then took it on a test ride and didn’t return.
A second motorcycle was stolen after the owner advertised it for sale online and agreed to let a potential buyer take it for a test ride from his home in Barra Mews, Nottingham, on 6 June 2024.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, two thefts of motor vehicles, one theft from a motor vehicle and failing to appear at court on other matters.
Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Detectives have been working hard on this investigation, as we always do whenever we receive reports of a home being broken into.
“We also know people rely on cars and motorbikes to work and get around so motor vehicle theft is taken very seriously by the force.
“I would urge anyone selling items online and meeting potential buyers to take every possible precaution to avoid becoming a victim of this sort of crime.”
Anyone with any information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident number 362 of 13 February 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
